p>The American company Ford has been producing the compact Fiesta since 1976. Over the years, the model has managed to change generations more than once. So, the Fiesta of the current seventh generation was introduced at the end of 2017, and experienced an update in the fall of 2021. Three- and five-door hatchbacks were introduced to the European market, production of all versions was launched at the Ford plant in Cologne (Germany).

Three-door versions of the Ford Fiesta left the assembly line last year. It was assumed that the five-door would stay in the brand line for some time, but already in October 2022 it became known that the days of the compact were numbered: Fiesta was given a deadline until the summer of 2023. According to the British Autocar, the last copies of the model will roll off the assembly line of the enterprise in Cologne in a week, on July 7.
Ford will keep a couple of the latest produced cars: they will replenish the collections of the brand's cars, while one copy will remain in the museum of the German plant, and the second will be sent to the British park. It is worth noting that the decision to make the Fiesta part of history was influenced by a decrease in demand for this model. In its best years, Fiesta sold over 450 thousand cars across Europe, while in 2021 the figure for the first time did not reach the mark of 100 thousand units (dealers sold only 86.4 thousand cars in a year).< br />

The company also noted that the Ford Fiesta is leaving the assembly line to make room for the production of the brand's new product, intended for the European market. We are talking about a fully electric crossover Ford Explorer, which was declassified in March of this year. Recall that its closest relative is the Volkswagen ID.4 sub-platform crossover.
The “Green” Explorer will be offered to Europeans with three options for “stuffing” to choose from. So, the starting version has a single 170-horsepower electric motor located on the rear axle. The medium version was equipped with a 286 hp electric motor. The top version received a twin-engine unit, the total output of which is 340 hp.
The electric car has two options for traction batteries: the base crossover got a battery with a capacity of 55 kWh (usable capacity is 52 kWh), and the other two versions received a battery of 82 kWh (77 kW *h). The starting version of this Explorer has a range of 350 km on a single charge, the average version has the highest figure — 540 km, while the all-wheel drive SUV has a range of 490 km.

It is known that Ford will start producing the second «green» model at the Cologne plant in 2024. It will also be designed for the European market. We are talking about a sports electric crossover, whose name the company has not yet officially disclosed. According to preliminary information, the name Capri may be revived for it.
