Donald Trump is reportedly considering returning to Twitter as the platform is now seen as more conservative-friendly and owned by Elon Musk.
A source close to the Trump campaign told US news website Axios. that the 77-year-old's return to the social media platform could be strategically used to offset the bad news ahead of next year's presidential election.
The former president and top GOP candidate in 2024 has been tweeting extensively until after being banned two and a half years ago after the deadly attack on the US Capitol.
His account, which still has almost 87 accounts. million followers, was reinstated by Mr. Musk last November after the billionaire conducted a poll that showed narrow support for allowing Mr. Trump to return.
Despite the move, Mr. Trump still has shied away from the app in favor of his own Truth Social platform.

Mr. Trump is the majority owner of Truth Social, where he has about five million followers, giving him a financial incentive to stay exclusively on this platform.
If he returns to Twitter, he could be signed to an agreement requiring him to first post on Truth Social, in accordance with the terms of the Truth Social/Digital World Acquisition Group merger.
Aides have raised the possibility that that Trump can post exclusive content on Truth Social but use Twitter backtracking to reinforce his message.
Many of his allies have urged him to return to the social networking site.
“President Trump needs to make Twitter great again,” Mike Davis, founder of the conservative legal group The Article III Project, told Axios. . “I want him back before the presidential campaign kicks off.”
“From a business standpoint, it makes perfect sense that he's only on the Truth. Politically, he should be on Twitter.”
The poll shows a dramatic change in Republican views on Twitter since Musk acquired the company. The attraction of Trump's many followers on the site may be too much to resist.
