The new SUV is presented only on the domestic market so far, but later it may well reach the Russian Federation. At home, the model is expected to be available with two turbo engines to choose from.
In the line of the premium brand Hongqi, which is owned by the FAW concern, there is already a crossover with the HS3 index. More precisely, the full name of the model, which has been produced since 2018, sounds like E-HS3, it is an electric car. However, the new SUV — without a prefix — has nothing to do with the mentioned train: it is not a gasoline variety, but a separate model. The fresh Hongqi HS3 celebrated its public premiere last spring at the Shanghai Motor Show, but now pre-orders have opened in China, although without announcing prices or even specifications. However, back in February, the model was “leaked” by the local Ministry of Industry, so the main inputs are known. Well, we note that the status of the cheapest SUV of the brand is tipped to the new product.

The appearance of the Hongqi HS3 was designed in the current corporate style of the brand, its main features are two-story head optics and a massive radiator grill a la Rolls-Royce. At the same time, the crossover also has its own chips — bifurcated running lights and taillights. The length of the HS3 is 4655 mm, width — 1900 mm, height — 1668 mm, wheelbase — 2770 mm. That is, in terms of its dimensions, the “Chinese” is close, for example, to the long-wheelbase Kia Sportage (Hongqi E-HS3 is more compact, the length of the electric car is 4490 mm, the distance between the axles is 2750 mm).

According to preliminary data, the Hongqi HS3 crossover will be offered with two petrol turbo fours to choose from: the base 1.5 engine produces 169 hp. and is combined with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches; the power of the 2.0T engine is 252 hp, it is paired with a classic eight-speed automatic. In addition, the two-liter turbo engine seems to have a 48-volt starter-alternator. And some Chinese media write that the SUV will also be available as a full-fledged hybrid with a 1.5T-based installation. » />
The Hongqi HS3 price list will be published in mid-July. In the meantime, the title of the brand's cheapest crossover is Hongqi HS5 (it has just been updated in China) — from $ 25,000. For the Hongqi E-HS3 electrocross today they are asking for at least $31,000.
Meanwhile, the Hongqi premium brand is about to enter the Russian market. We have announced the H5 and H9 sedans, the pre-reform HS5 and the flagship electric crossover E-HS9. It is possible that later the junior SUV HS3 will be brought to the Russian Federation — if not officially, then according to the parallel import scheme.
