New hybrids have entered the range of the freshened hatchback of the French brand, while the «stuffing» of the all-electric version has remained the same.
The current five-door Peugeot 208 and its “green” version with its own name e-208 were presented in 2019. Since then, the “electric train” has already managed to survive the technical modernization. The 208th became the most sought-after car in Europe in 2022, depriving the Volkswagen Golf of this status. This year, the model is aiming to remain the leader: in the first five months, old-world dealers sold 86,530 copies, which is 1.5% more than in January-May 2022.

The French brand today introduced the updated Peugeot 208 and e-208 hatchbacks. Appearance was updated in the same style as that of the related Peugeot 2008 crossover (the refreshed SUV debuted in May of this year). The base five-door has halogen optics, while the top version of the GT has LED headlights with three separate elements in a row. The updated Peugeot 208 received a larger grille, which now forms a single unit with the air intake in the lower part of the front bumper (the plug on the electric version looks similar.
The profile was decorated with 16- and 17-inch wheels of the original design; also in the list of new things — new colors for the body color. The rear bumper of the hatchback remained the same, the shape of the lanterns also did not change, but their pattern was turned from vertical thin stripes into horizontal ones. Peugeot 208 starter versions are equipped with the same 1.2-liter PureTech three-cylinder engines, we are talking about a 75-horsepower aspirated engine that works paired with a five-speed mechanics, as well as a 100-horsepower turbo engine that comes with a six-speed manual box. The turbodiesel and the 130-horsepower version have disappeared from the line.The updated hatchback has a couple of hybrid modifications, their total power is 100 and 136 hp. Both versions are based on a 1.2-liter turbo three, working in tandem with a six-speed dual-clutch robot, in which an electric motor is integrated. The system also includes a battery with a «modest» capacity of 0.9 kWh. The updated Peugeot e-208 has two versions with a “stuffing” already familiar to fans of the model: the base “train” is equipped with a 136-horsepower electric motor and a 50 kWh traction battery (the maximum power reserve on a single charge reaches 360 km); and the more expensive option has a 156-horsepower electric motor with a battery with a capacity of 51 kWh (range without recharging — 400 km). Recall that the second version was introduced in September last year.
Sales of refreshed hatchbacks in the old-world market will start before the end of this year. The prices of the updated Peugeot 208 and e-208 will be announced later.
