Most likely, Russian customers will be offered a new generation of pure gasoline SUV, while at home the model is still in the form of a hybrid.
In general, second-generation GAC GS8 three-row crossovers have already been brought to Russia, but they were “parallel” cars. At the beginning of this year, information appeared that the local representative office of the Chinese concern would arrange official deliveries of a fresh SUV. And now the Russian office of the GAC, finally, announced the model itself: the new GS8 “hangs” on the brand’s consumer website, albeit without characteristics yet.

Recall that such a cross made its debut in China in 2021, where it is presented under the Trumpchi brand (this brand is not used in other countries). The SUV moved to a new “trolley” and radically changed both outside and inside. In addition, at home Trumpchi GS8 has found a hybrid version with a slightly different design of the front end and an electromechanical variator from Toyota (GAC has been cooperating with a Japanese company for a long time). However, in Russia, most likely, only a purely gasoline version will be available.

The length of the «traditional» new GS8 for China is 4980 mm, width — 1950 mm, height — 1780 mm, wheelbase — 2920 mm. Passport ground clearance — 200 mm. For comparison, the dimensions of the «first» crossover, which is still on sale in Russia: 4836/1910/1770 mm, the distance between the axles is 2800 mm. The ground clearance of our current SUV is the same as the second generation in China.
On home, the standard GAC GS8 is equipped with a 2.0 petrol turbo four, which produces 252 hp. and 400 Nm, the motor is equipped with an eight-speed automatic Aisin. The hybrid has an installation based on a two-liter turbo engine that operates on the Atkinson economical cycle. In Russia, the current GS8 has a 190-horsepower 2.0 turbo four (190 Nm) and a six-speed automatic, front-wheel or all-wheel drive.

Sale of the «second» SUV will start in Russia in the near future, it will probably be more expensive than its predecessor, which today costs from 2,989,000 rubles.
