Chevrolet Montana RS pickup presented: from sports — only decor and name

The «sport» version has become the top one for a compact truck. Like the standard Montana, this version is offered exclusively with a 1.2 turbo triple and front-wheel drive.

The Brazilian division of Chevrolet has expanded its “sported” line — the Montana RS pickup is presented, it joined the Cruze RS and Onix RS hatches, Tracker SUVs RS and Equinox RS. So far, the “heated” truck is available only in Brazil, where the production of the model has been launched, but later the “ereska” will certainly reach other Latin American countries.

Recall that the fresh Montana debuted last year, in the new generation it has turned from a small two-door truck a la commercial Lada Granta into a full-fledged “passenger” pickup truck with a four-door cab, for which the said Tracker crossover became a donor.

The exterior features of the Chevrolet Montana RS are a black grille with a coarse mesh instead of horizontal stripes, a similar color of the mirror housings, roof rails and a bow tie, plus nameplates with the name of the new version. In addition, a special pickup truck received 17-inch wheels of the original design. The body itself can be painted in red, black, dark gray or white. In the cabin — scarlet accents and black gloss, aluminum pedals are provided for an extra charge. That, in fact, is the whole «sport»: the suspension was not modified, the equipment also switched from the usual model, but about the motor below.

The RS version has become the most expensive for Montana, so such a pickup by default has LED optics, climate control, wireless charging for a smartphone and a blind spot monitoring system. Well, even the base truck has a multimedia system with an 8-inch screen, a rear-view camera and six airbags.

Under a standard 1.2 turbo three is installed on the hood, which traditionally for Brazil “feeds” on both gasoline and ethanol. In the first case, the return is 132 hp. and 190 Nm, in the second — 133 hp. and 210 Nm. The Chevrolet Montana RS pickup truck is offered exclusively with a six-speed classic automatic, while the mechanics are still required for the regular model. Front-wheel drive only.

Sales start in August, but local profile media already know the price: the Montana RS is asking for around $31,000. A basic truck will cost around $24,300.
