Lifetime Democrat from Atlanta, Georgia, Mesha Minor, Joins the Republican Party
Georgia Democratic politician defected to the Republican Party Republican Party in conflict over cuts to police funding and school choice.
Mesha Minor, state legislator, said she was «harassed and intimidated» by fellow Democrats after splitting up with them. on a number of issues.

Ms. Minor represents the strongly Democratic District 56, with a population of 190,000, in the Georgia Legislature in Atlanta.
Now she will join the Republican majority there.

In a Twitter statement, Ms Minor said: “Today I made the decision to leave the Democratic Party. I represent the blue district in the city of Atlanta, so this was not a political decision for me. It was MORAL.
“I will NEVER apologize for being a black woman with my own opinion. For too long, the Democratic Party has been able to use and insult the black community.»
She said the Democratic Party had the support of more than 90 percent of the black community, adding that «what can we show in this?»
