The medical examiner indicated the cause of death as “the consequences of small bowel obstruction.”
“The obstruction was in the form of an infringement of the small intestine caused by adhesions that developed after bariatric surgery many years ago,” the expert’s report says. “This is a known long-term complication of this type of surgery.”
The examiner said that she also had a history of overdosing, where she repeated her doses, forgetting that she had taken prescription medications. .
The toxicology report showed that she had “therapeutic levels” of oxycodone and other drugs in her blood that were not thought to be contributing factors.
