A British tourist is in hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed during an argument on beach resort in Australia.
An unnamed 25-year-old tourist was stabbed in the back and wrist by a 15-year-old boy at a bus stop in Noosa, a town on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
< p>This is part of a well-trodden tourist trail that leads from Melbourne and Sydney along the east coast to the tropical north of Queensland.
< p>The attack came after a quarrel broke out between them at 4 a.m. on Sunday morning, police said .
Passers-by intervened. They helped a British tourist and detained a teenager armed with a knife and a bottle before the police arrived.
'People want to help'
Police officers praised bystanders for coming to the aid of the tourist, but warned of the risks involved.< /p>
Queensland Police Inspector Jason Overland: «It's perfectly normal behavior when something bad happens — people want to help.»

A Briton with non-life threatening injuries is being treated at Sunshine Coast University Hospital and is expected to be released on Monday.
The teen has been charged with assault for causing bodily harm and is due to face trial court on Monday.
Police are interviewing witnesses to try and piece together what happened.

Noosa is located south of Fraser Island, a popular tourist destination that was in the news recently when a young French tourist was sunbathing on the beach when a dingo was bitten.
This attack was one of several that have recently raised concerns about the behavior of feral dogs.
