Luton Town are on the verge of signing Aston Villa's Marvelous Nakamba on a permanent deal after a breakthrough in negotiations over his No. 1 target for the summer.
The 29-year-old midfielder from Zimbabwe was on loan at Kenilworth Road in the second half of last season and made 20 appearances, including a championship play-off final at Wembley when a Premier League spot was secured.
Rob Edwards was looking to strengthen his team for promotion to the top flight and Nakamba's return in some capacity was a priority and an agreement has now been reached on a transfer fee. As the deal remains formal, he could be signed within the next 48 hours.
Luton have signed Republic of Ireland striker Chiedosi Ogbene after his contract with Rotherham expired. Mads Andersen arrived from Barnsley and Tahit Chong signed for Birmingham.
They are still looking for a goalkeeper after Manchester United blocked a move for Tom Heaton and there were talks with Asmir Begovic, but he eventually signed. for Queens Park Rangers. There have also been talks with Manchester City for a season-long loan for Issa Kabore.
Newcastle maintain interest in Livramento
Newcastle United are continuing talks with Southampton over Tino Livramento and are believed to have done one more suggestion.

West Brom midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah has flown to Israel ahead of a permanent move to Maccabi Haifa. Chalobah, 28, a former Chelsea alumnus, was the last to leave West Brom as Carlos Corberan decided to cut the club's payroll.
