The English Lionesses have always been eager to use new ideas to achieve «minor gain» a” in their tournament preparation this year as well, which included wearing special goggles while flying to Australia for the World Cup to ease the effects of jet lag.
The goggles are linked to an app that allows players to control the light they are exposed to so they can stay awake or fall asleep at optimal times. The technology is based on the concept that the human body and mind react differently to the blue light of morning and the red light of sunset. It helps stimulate the body to wake up or go to sleep.
When wearing glasses with orange and blue lenses, a person wearing them can simulate the effects of natural light within the cockpit of an aircraft. The theory behind the science is that wearing orange lenses produces more melatonin, the hormone that regulates the sleep-wake cycle, in the body.
England will go straight to training camp on the Sunshine Coast and play a closed-door friendly against Canada on July 14, before facing Haiti in their first World Cup group match on July 22 in Brisbane.
