Her husband, Bernard d'Ormal, told regional newspaper Var-Matin: “It was around 9 am when Brigitte had trouble breathing.
“Her breathing was [heavier] than usual, but she did not lose consciousness,” he added.
“Like all people of a certain age, she can no longer endure the heat. This happens at 88.”
After she was given oxygen, paramedics “stayed to watch over her”, according to d'Ormal.

Paris-born Bardot, an animal rights activist, now runs an animal shelter in Saint-Tropez, having retired from the film industry in 1973.
She rose to fame in the 1956 film God Created Woman, but has since become a controversial figure as she was previously convicted of comments about Muslims.
