Honda e was created with an eye on the European market, the premiere took place in the spring of 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show, sales began in 2020, and the same year was the most successful for Honda e – then more than four thousand copies of this model were sold in Europe. Meanwhile, Honda hoped to sell at least ten thousand electric hatchbacks a year in Europe, and there seemed to be every indication of this – Honda e even became the owner of the title “Car of the Year in Germany 2021″, before Japanese models were not honored with such an honor. 699c2.jpg” />The overall length of the Honda e is 3894 mm, the wheelbase is 2538 mm. Europeans, and indeed car enthusiasts from around the world, really liked the nostalgic design of the Honda e and its stylish, expensive-looking interior with a five-screen front panel, but the real consumer qualities of the Japanese novelty turned out to be unimportant, and the price was too high.

Now the Honda e costs in Germany from 39,900 euros, that is, at the level of the larger Volkswagen ID.3 hatchback, while the Honda e has a very modest battery with a capacity of only 35.5 kWh, a full charge of which is enough for a maximum of 222 km of run on the WLTP cycle (in reality – about 120-150 km). The only electric motor in the Honda e is located on the rear axle and rotates the rear wheels, which gives the handling a rather gambling character. The maximum output of the electric motor is 113 kW (154 hp) and 315 Nm, the Honda e accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds, the maximum speed is limited to 145 km/h.
The rumors about the forthcoming sports version of the Honda e with the Type R prefix, unfortunately, remained rumors. Moreover, the electric hatchback, apparently, does not have long to live: Autocar magazine, citing the head of the British automobile division of Honda, Rebecca Adamson, said that the Honda e will definitely not have an heir, as the company decided to focus on crossovers. a2efd.jpg” />
Honda is now launching the e:Ny1 compact electric crossover in Europe with a 68.8kWh battery that can travel 412km on a WLTP cycle on a single charge. Honda expects that the e:Ny1 could account for a fifth of Honda's sales in Europe – also, frankly, too optimistic expectations, because the price is again too high – from 47,590 euros in Germany, for this money there are many much more attractive alternatives on the market. The battery of the Honda e:Ny1 is not integrated into the body, but hangs on its belly, because of this, the ground clearance is only 135 mm, even the Honda e has more – 145 mm. ” />
Perhaps if Honda had equipped its electric hatchback with a larger battery, it could achieve better commercial results, but the company's management seems to have completely lost interest in it. Made in Japan, the Honda e sells hundreds of units a year in the domestic market – modestly, very modestly.
