The refreshed compact hatchback and crossover will debut on August 1st. Previously, the Czech brand declassified their exterior on sketches.
Skoda, owned by the German concern Volkswagen, introduced the Scala hatchback at the end of 2018, and sales on the European market started at the beginning of 2019. Recall that this model replaced the Rapid Spaceback line. This five-door has a related compact crossover — Skoda Kamiq. He debuted in February 2019, and reached old-world dealers in the fall. Now the Czech manufacturer is developing updated versions of these models, the project is at the final stage.
Skoda has published a fresh batch of sketches: now the company has decided to show an upgraded matrix head optics, which the updated Scala hatchback and Kamiq crossover will receive as an option. It is worth noting that such optics are already available for other models of the brand — Karoq, Octavia, Kodiaq, Enyaq and Superb. />
Visually, the headlights of the updated five-door hatchback (in the preview) will have a more elongated shape, corresponding to the edges of the modified radiator grille. The headlights have received stripes of daytime running lights above and below: the headlights of the refreshed Scala boast a new, more complex light pattern.
In turn, in the restyled Skoda Kamiq, the main headlight units have become slightly larger, while the separate strip of running lights located above, on the contrary, is now thinner.
Sketch of updated Skoda Scala hatchback
Earlier, the Czech brand also showed on the sketches what the exterior design of these models will be like after the update. So, Skoda Scala received an enlarged grille with a more complex pattern of black vertical elements. In addition, the hatchback has a different design of the lower part of the front bumper with a central and two side air intakes. The profile will be updated with new original wheels.
Judging by the sketch, the rear of the five-door has changed minimally: for example, the shape of the lanterns was left the same, but the light pattern was corrected (the company explained that their graphics had become more “refined”). The rear bumper has been refreshed with reflectors that have moved lower and are now located directly above the diffuser. Skoda Kamiq
Skoda Kamiq received a larger grille with the same pattern during the update, as well as a modified air intake integrated into the lower part of the front bumper. The stern was equipped with a modified rear bumper with a more sporty diffuser. Flashlights will probably refresh in the same way as the Scala. Most likely, the restyled crossover received exterior mirrors of a narrower shape. , what changes the Skoda Scala and Kamiq equipment received, it is only known that the models have “technological improvements”. According to preliminary data, the updated hatchback and crossover can borrow the “stuffing” from the recently introduced restyled Volkswagen T-Cross. Its range in Europe includes a 1.0-liter TSI petrol turbo with a capacity of 95 and 115 hp, as well as a 1.5-liter TSI turbo four with a return of 150 hp. Models are offered mechanics or DSG robot (depending on the version).
Meanwhile, Skoda is preparing for the imminent presentation of the new Superb. At the end of last week, the manufacturer published a fresh portion of pictures of a disguised prototype of the model, and also declassified the characteristics of its engines.
