Network Supercharger— Tesla's biggest and most important asset. Not only is this unique from an automaker's point of view, it is also the most extensive DC fast charging network in the world. More importantly, it is expanding rapidly with new stations opening every week. This is very important given the recent agreements Teslawith Ford, GM and other automakers to use their chargers.
B Last year, Tesla introduced a new type of station that became known as the Supercharger V4. The new chargers have a different shape and longer cables, allowing them to be used by electric vehicles from other automakers. The first devices began to be installed in Europe, namely in the Netherlands, France and Austria. During the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK, Teslaalso unveiled a new V4 charging rack that integrates a card reader and a touch screen.
However, Supercharger V4 do not provide superior charging speed compared to V3 chargers. This is because they are served by the same power cabinets that have not been upgraded. Theoretically V4 have superior features, including support for 1000 volt charging power to quickly charge compatible electric vehicles. The first of these electric vehicles will be the Cybertruck, which is rumored to share 1000-volt architecture and fast-charging capabilities with the Semi truck.
Semi can power-charge 1 MW, which is why its chargers are called mega chargers. During the Semi delivery eventLast December, Elon Musk confirmed that Megachargerwill be deployed in the US as Supercharger V4 stations. He also confirmed that the Cybertruck will be the first vehicle to use 1000-volt charging capabilities.
First Megacharger soon to start operating at station >Superchargerin Baker, California, which is expanding to 96 charging points. Many of the stations are V4 or Megacharger chargers, as evidenced by the characteristic connector.
Megawatt plug is, essentially a standardized connector called a Megawatt Charging System (MCS). Tesla is using the second iteration, although the industry has moved to version 3, which has round contacts arranged in a triangular shape. This means that Tesla may open Megacharger to other automakers in the future.
