The Japanese company will focus its efforts on promoting models such as the CX-50, CX-90 PHEV and the upcoming CX- 70 PHEV.
Mazda introduced the MX-30 crossover coupe in the fall of 2019, the first to arrive with an all-electric SUV that went to old-world dealers. In October 2021, sales of this model started in the USA. It is worth noting that the crossover has options with other “stuffing”: for example, in October 2020 it appeared on the home market with a traditional gasoline engine, and at the beginning of this year, the MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV version with a gasoline new generation rotary piston engine.

Now it has become known that Mazda is ending sales of the MX-30 EV in the States, despite the fact that this is the brand's only electric car in this market. However, judging by the sales figures for this version, it probably won't be missed here. The brand's dealers sold a total of just 16 «green» versions of the MX-30 last month, according to Carscoops. A total of 66 units have been sold since the beginning of this year. In 2022, the EV didn't fare much better, with Mazda selling just 324 MX-30 EVs in the entire year.
It is known that the price tag of the Mazda MX-30 EV 2023 model year in the US starts at $ 35,385 (equivalent to about 3.24 million rubles at the current exchange rate). At the same time, the electric car is equipped with a lithium-ion traction battery with a capacity of 35.5 kWh, it provides the model with a very modest range on a single charge — only 161 km (when calculated according to the EPA cycle). For comparison, the cost of the Chevrolet Bolt starts at $26,500 (about 2.42 million rubles), and its range is 417 km without recharging.
Recall that the electric crossover is equipped with a single 145-horsepower electric motor, which is located on the front axle; its maximum torque is 271 Nm. In the list of advantages of the model, Mazda customers made an unusual design, the presence of cruise control with the Stop & Go, heated front seats, sunroof, and 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
In Japan, the MX-30 is available with a 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G naturally aspirated petrol with 156 hp. (torque — 199 Nm). It works in tandem with a six-speed hydromechanical automatic, as well as a low-voltage hybrid makeweight in the form of a starter-generator (6.9 hp, 49 Nm), which helps the internal combustion engine at peak loads. The drive for such an SUV can be either front or full.

The Mazda MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV is a plug-in hybrid setup powered by a new-generation 75 hp gasoline rotary piston engine, paired with a 170 hp electric motor. This modification takes 9.1 seconds to accelerate from standstill to “hundreds” (for comparison, the EV version is 9.7 seconds). The maximum speed is the same — not more than 140 km/h. In purely electric mode, such a crossover can travel 85 km on a single charge (the calculation was carried out according to the WLTP cycle).
In the US market, Mazda decided to focus its efforts on promoting such electrified models as the CX-50, CX-90 PHEV and the upcoming CX-70 PHEV. Recall that at the end of last month it became known that the large Mazda CX-9 crossover was leaving the States (it would be replaced by a model with an index of 90).
