The Lotus Envya sedan, codenamed Type 133, is one of the long-awaited cars on the market. It has now been spotted in China during testing.
Envy — Lotus' first all-electric mass-market sedan to hit the market this year. The front bumper of the Lotus Envya is very similar to the Eletre SUV that hit the Chinese market back in October 2022. It has the same air intake with active grille and aerodynamic shape. We can also notice that the Envya's headlights sit right in the front bumper, just like the Eletre's. But DRLs are already two-level. Interestingly, the upper set of headlights is located directly on the hood.
We also see that the Lotus Envya still has physical rear-view mirrors. In fact, side-view cameras instead of mirrors became legal in China in July 2023. And the first brand to ship cars with cameras instead of mirrors was Lotus with its Eletre SUV. It's highly likely that Envya will also get cameras as an option. Also not to be missed is the LiDAR sensor on the roof of the Envya and its fenders.
Lotus Envya — it is a sedan that is based on a slightly modified Geely SEA platform called EPA (Electric Premium Architecture). It was reported that Envya will borrow the power plant from the Lotus Eletre. This means that the base model will be equipped with two 596 hp electric motors. and 710 Nm. As for the older version, it will have three electric motors with a total capacity of 905 hp. and a torque of 985 Nm. Inside, the Lotus Envya features a large floating screen, a slim instrument panel and two independent seats in the second row.
The Lotus Envya will hit the market later this year, becoming Lotus' second mass-produced EV. Its price range has not yet been disclosed. In China, it will compete with the upcoming YangWang sedan, which was also recently seen in tests. There is a possibility that Envya will debut at the Chengdu Auto Show in August.
