In recent years, the Japanese company has almost completely refocused on crossovers, and even recently it offered many interesting passenger models. Among them was even a luxury rear-wheel drive Proudia sedan, and we decided to imagine what such a car could be like today.
The Proudia model first appeared in 1999, its name comes from the English words «proud» and «diamond», which is a reference to the company's logo. The model was created together with Hyundai, which gave its version the well-known name Equus in Russia. There is also an extended version of the car called the Dignity. Both Mitsubishi sedans were produced for only three years, and the second generation was released only in 2012. It is a slightly modified version of the Nissan Cima sedan, which we know as the fourth generation Infiniti M. Like the original, the Proudia/Dignity model received a rear-wheel drive platform, while the first generation has a front-wheel drive. On the assembly line, the sedan lasted until the end of 2016 and did not receive an heir. What would it look like today?

We have depicted a variant with a rear-wheel drive platform, which involves a long hood, a large wheelbase and a short front overhang. The front part is made in the current style of the brand: “two-story” optics with narrow LED running lights in the upper part, chrome-plated curved inserts with a radiator grill located between them. The door handles are made retractable in the latest automotive fashion, the windows are framed by chrome molding, and the C-pillars are made “floating”, as on some other models of the brand. At the rear, the most interesting element is the T-shaped lights, as well as a massive trunk lid, which can be considered a reference to the first generation model. />Render of the new Mitsubishi Proudia sedan
As already mentioned, the latest generation of the Proudia sedan was built on a rear-wheel drive platform, namely FM, which first appeared on the Infiniti G-series/Nissan Skyline models in 2001. It also built the Infiniti Q60 coupe, Nissan 350Z and Infiniti EX/FX/QX70 crossovers. The Proudia model was equipped with two engine options — 2.5 V6 (221 hp) and 3.7 V6 (329 hp). Both engines were equipped with a 7-speed automatic transmission.
