U.S. electric vehicle startup Alpha Motor Corporation has unveiled a working prototype of the Wolf electric pickup truck, which it hopes will one day go into mass production along with a dozen other previously announced models.
The company, called Alpha Motor Corporation, was founded in 2020 by Asian-American designer Edward Lee, who previously worked for Lexus and Audi. Edward Lee is the CEO of Alpha and the author of the original neoclassical style of future Alpha electric vehicles. Between 2020 and 2022, Alpha Motor Corporation unveiled a complete lineup in computer renderings: Ace coupe, Jax crossover, Wolf pickup, Saga sedan, Saga Estate wagon, Room shuttle, Rex SUV and Montage retro car, with some models announced in several modifications.

The Wolf pickup truck (the name translates into Russian as “wolf”) is to become the first production Alpha model, and so far it is the only one that has received a physical embodiment: in 2021, the “wolf” model was shown in Los Angeles at the Petersen Automotive Museum, and yesterday the world video premiere of the current prototype — in this way the company wants to show that it is alive and that everything is going more or less according to plan. The test drive was supposedly public, the participants themselves drove the prototype and were delighted with it, but it was the public that was not visible in the video published on YouTube, but the dusty Wolf pickup truck rushing through the sands and gullies of California — the car and the surroundings evoke persistent associations with post-apocalyptic Mad Max movies.
The trailer and Alpha's latest press release lists key specifications for the Wolf pickup, but doesn't say anything about a production start date. Previously, it was reported that the release of Wolf will begin tentatively in 2025. The overall length of a pickup truck with a single-row cab is 4828 mm, width is 1900 mm, height is 1768 mm, wheelbase is 2780 mm, useful body length is 1828 mm. The body and cab are attached to a simple spar frame, the front suspension is independent spring on double wishbones, the rear axle is on springs, but its design cannot be clearly seen from a single render.
The electric architecture of the pickup truck is 400-volt, the battery capacity is 65-85 kWh, depending on the modification, the range on a single charge is at least 275 miles (442 km). There are single-engine rear-wheel drive and dual-engine all-wheel drive versions, the power of each electric motor is 212 kW (288 hp). Acceleration to 60 miles/h (96.56 km/h) takes 5.8 seconds (which version is not specified), the maximum speed is 201 km/h. The permissible weight of the towed trailer is 1.3 tons. Note that the website of the company that accepts pre-orders for the Wolf shows slightly different characteristics. Expected price range is $36,000 to $46,000.

The Wolf pickup will also have one-and-a-half and two-row versions — they are called Wolf + and Superwolf respectively and are more expensive, but the regular Wolf should go into production first . The equipment claims high-quality sound insulation and modern electronic driver assistants. The salon is made in a retro style, while the control of all secondary functions, like in Tesla electric vehicles, is “hardwired” into the central multimedia screen.

Whether we will ever see a production Wolf and other Alpha models is unknown — this year and last year there was a real drop in electric vehicle startups, because the investment climate in the world is now not very favorable, there is not enough money for all bright and original ideas.
