After what appears to be a short break, the league kicks off when the newly promoted host Sheffield Wednesday were eliminated from Southampton on Friday night.
Leicester, who was Premier League champion seven years ago, considered favorite to bounce back at first ask, but as last season showed with Luton Town's surprise promotion, the Championship is arguably the most unpredictable league
With that said , here are our team's predictions for the 2023/24 Championship season.
ChampionsJason Burt, Chief Football Correspondent: Leicester City
Leicester have lost key players, but have drawn well Conor Coady and Harry Winks.
John Percy, Midlands Football Correspondent: Leicester City
After weak relegation, Leicester returned to the Championship for the first time since 2014. The long-awaited reboot has yet to be fully implemented, but new head coach Enzo Mareschi has a clear style of play and the recruitment has been impressive.
Luke Edwards, North American Football Writer: Leicester City< /p>
All three teams that have been relegated from the Premier League look too strong for the Championship even with the departure of players, but it is extremely rare for all three to return to the top flight at once.
< strong>Chris Bascombe: «Leicester City
Parachute payouts usually put clubs relegated from the Premier League in a strong position to recover. Leicester should never have lost and still have enough class to make a name for themselves from day one.
Sam Dean: Middlesbrough
Only Burnley and Sheffield United have amassed more points than Middlesbrough since Michael Carrick's appointment at Riverside Stadium last October, so it's no wonder they are among the favorites for automatic promotion. If they can keep Carrick for the whole season, they should be in business.

JB: Middlesbrough, Southampton
It won't be much of a shock to see all three clubs relegated from the Premier League bounce back on the first try, although that's been Middlesbrough's form since Michael Carrick took over, that they should be strong contenders for automatic promotion. Southampton have a strong team filled with young talent.

Dark Horse
JB: Bristol City
Bristol City might be something to look out for. They may lose Alex Scott to Bournemouth, but they have a great team and in their second season in the division, Mark Sykes could come out on top. Swansea City and Sunderland could also be forces to be reckoned with, as is Coventry City, if they manage the loss of Victor Gjokeres.
JP: Stoke City
< p>It's either boom or bust for Alex Neil and Stoke after such a dismal end to last season, but they're recruiting impressively and it looks like a new start for the club and manager. Will Stoke City's fortunes improve this season? Photo: PA/Martin Rickett

Player to watch
JB: Hayden Hackney (Middlesbrough)
If Boro doesn't get promoted, they could look to receive offers from Premier League clubs for Hayden Hackney. Also look out for Shea Charles (Southampton) and Job Bellingham (Sunderland).
JP: Harry Winks (Leicester City)
Midfielder fell. division to rebuild his career and will be crucial this season.
LE: Jack Clark (Sunderland)
Former Leeds prospect » resurrected his career at Sunderland and is one of the brightest wingers outside the top flight.
CB: Hayden Hackney (Middlesbrough)
SD < /strong>: Samuel Edosi (Southampton)
Southampton embraced a youth-focused policy last season and paid the price in the Premier League, but Russell Martin and Samuel's team has no shortage with bright talents. Edosi, an England Under-21 international who joined from Manchester City last year, could create a lot of problems for league defenders.
