German tuning studio Brabus has unveiled another impressive Brabus 850 sports sedan based on the luxurious Mercedes-Maybach S 680. indicates the power of the engine.
We've already seen what luxury means to Brabus with the Rolls-Royce Ghost-based Brabus 700 sedan, but this week's Brabus 850 is an even higher level from a tuner's point of view. If the original Mercedes-Maybach S 680, thanks to the abundance of chrome and two-tone coloring, gives the impression of an aristocrat, then after processing by Brabus specialists, the image completely changes, it can be characterized by the words sporty, brutal and even gangster.

All original chrome parts on the body are painted black, which harmonizes well with the new carbon fiber body kit — this is a front splitter, front bumper air intakes and a new rear bumper with a diffuser. It would seem that there are few new elements, but they are all functional and increase downforce at high speeds. Completing the menacing look are oversized black oval tailpipes and black forged 10-spoke Brabus Monoblock Z Platinum Edition wheels, wrapped in low-profile 265/30 R 22 tires at the front and 305/25 R 22 at the rear.

The soft upholstery is all new, in quilted perforated leather, while the hard trim is now almost entirely lacquered cabron, found on the steering wheel, dash, center console and door cards. Even the pedals are covered with carbon fiber, but here it is supplemented with friction pads so that the foot does not slip. More than 300 standard plastic parts have received Brabus' new dark Shadow Chrome finish. The roof and pillars are upholstered in Alcantara. Also included are quilted Brabus leather floor and trunk floor mats.
Under the hood — a properly pumped 12-cylinder M 279 engine. The working volume is increased from 5980 to 6233 «cubes» due to the new crankshaft, new connecting rods and pistons. More efficient turbochargers, a new intake system and a new exhaust system with a bypass valve were installed, which, at the request of the owner, provide an animal roar during acceleration. Maximum output from stock 612 hp and 900 Nm increased to 850 hp. and 1400 Nm, but the torque ceiling is programmatically limited at around 1100 hp, so as not to “kill” the Meresdes 9-speed “automatic”. Acceleration time to 100 km/h was reduced from 4.5 to 4.1 s, the maximum speed is limited at around 250 km/h. The suspension is lowered by 20mm, but without compromising ride, Brabus says.
