The Mini brand, owned by the Bavarian company BMW, began producing the current second-generation Countryman SUV in 2016. Restyling this model survived in the late spring of 2020. Now the company continues to develop a new generation Countryman: it became known that the corresponding project had started in the fall of 2020.

The manufacturer published the first portion of the official «spy» pictures of the prototype of the «third» Mini Countryman at the beginning of last spring. Then it was hidden with the help of a bright yellow camouflage film, and the company held a “photo shoot” at a factory in Leipzig, where mass production of new items will be launched later. Recall that on the conveyor it will take the place of the BMW i3 electric hatch, which the Bavarian brand retired last summer. >
Now Mini has shared a fresh batch of prototype shots, this time dressed in bright color film. As noted in the company, the test sample in the photographs is being tested, moving along the off-road of the Scottish Highlands. Moreover, for the test, the British company decided to choose a route from the movie «007: Skyfall» in 2012.

Even in Mini, they noted the advantages of a “spacious trunk”, which allows you to carry equipment for “long trips”. By the way, the length of the new Countryman is 130 mm longer than the current version, it is 4429 mm.
According to preliminary data, the new Mini Countryman with internal combustion engines will borrow the “stuffing” from the current BMW X1. In this case, its engine range will be made up of gasoline and diesel options, in addition, mild hybrid units will be in the lineup. The all-electric version is likely to share the technology with the iX1. Recall that he received a twin-engine power plant, the total output of which is 313 hp, and the torque is 494 Nm. The system also includes a battery with a capacity of 64.7 kWh, the Bavarian has a power reserve on a single charge of 438 km (according to the WLTP cycle). The top speed of the BMW iX1 is electronically limited to 180 km/h. It is expected that the basic version of the «socket» Countryman will receive one 191-horsepower electric motor and the same 64.7 kWh battery.
How the price of the model will change after the change in generation, the company has not yet told. In one of the largest European markets, Germany, the starting price tag of the Mini Countryman today is 38,600 euros (equivalent to about 4.1 million rubles at the current exchange rate).
