Brother Chevrolet Captiva survived a separate restyling

The Wuling brand's seven-seater SUV has acquired a different face, the stern has also been improved. The interior is almost the same, the equipment has not been touched at all.

The Wuling Almaz crossover debuted in 2019, it is addressed mainly to Indonesia, where customers are offered locally assembled cars. The model was not developed from scratch: it is a clone of Baojun 530 (Wuling and Baojun brands are joint projects of General Motors and the Chinese concern SAIC). Moreover, the «five hundred and thirtieth» has a couple more derivatives — MG Hector and SUV, which is positioned as the second generation Chevrolet Captiva. In 2021, Almaz was slightly modernized, then it got a black and red decor and the RS prefix (as conceived by marketers, it means Rising Star). But the original Baojun and Captiva had already experienced a full-fledged restyling by that time, and Hector also changed in 2022. Now the turn of the Wuling Almaz RS has finally come: the premiere took place as part of the auto show that opened today in Jakarta.

Like the MG SUV, Almaz has been updated according to a separate program. Wuling models got the original front bumper and grille, and the grille was moved lower. A new chrome trim flaunts on the rear bumper, and instead of an emblem on the tailgate, there is now an inscription with the name of the brand. The design of 18-inch wheels has also been changed. In Indonesia, along with the «traditional» SUV, a hybrid is also presented (the rest of the brothers do not have such a version), the features of the updated petrol-electric version are blue accents.

The crossover is offered to Indonesians only in a seven-seater version, while the Chevrolet Captiva also has a five-seater version, and the MG Hector is six-seater. The Wuling Almaz RS equipment list includes a multimedia system with a vertical tablet, digital tidy, leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, adaptive cruise control and lane departure control.

Techniques of the reform were not touched. The «traditional» Almaz RS is equipped with a 1.5 petrol turbo four with a capacity of 140 hp, which is paired with a CVT. The hybrid has a two-liter aspirated, the total output of such a cross is 174 hp. In any case, the drive is only front.

Indonesia is already accepting orders for a restyled SUV, the price a pure petrol Diamond from $28,800, a hybrid will cost at least $31,000.
