Hello followers! A week ago, our family returned from a trip to Karachay-Cherkessia. This year we decided to go by car — most recently we became the owners of the all-wheel drive version of OMODA C5. How did the crossover pass the test on southern roads? I'll tell you in the article.
Riding
Under the hood of the C5 AWD is a 1.6-liter gasoline turbo engine with 150 hp. I have no questions about the dynamics: the speed set is quite nimble and without failures, it accelerates to 100 km/h in an average of 9 seconds. Overtaking is confident and stress-free. But the top speed is not enough — at some point the car categorically refuses to continue accelerating.
The seven-speed robot with two clutches showed itself on the good side. It quickly shifts gears, fixing the selected gear with a sharp pressure on the gas pedal.
The suspension (independent McPherson and independent multi-link) is ready for the harsh Russian realities. Even at high speed, the car practically did not notice small road irregularities. Deftly swallowed and huge pits on the mountain slopes.
Winding road — another element of the all-wheel drive «Chinese»! The car feels like a fish in water, allowing you not to slow down too much.
Comfort
I'll start with the landing. The front seats are stylized as sports buckets. It looks cool, but on long trips the back gets a little numb. The design clearly lacks the adjustment of the lumbar support. On the plus side, there is ventilation.
The children on the second row were comfortable: there is plenty of legroom, there are USB sockets for charging phones.
About the trunk: its volume is 378 liters. We managed to stuff two children's suitcases, one standard and several packages. But it can be opened in a contactless way. It is enough to come close to the car from behind and take a step back — the “casket” helpfully opens. There is also a 12 V socket inside.
The acoustics were also pleasing. Neither the howling of the wind, nor the motor is almost inaudible.
Of the electronic assistants on the road, adaptive cruise control and the assistance system on steep descents came in handy in the first place. Everything works flawlessly.
Fuel consumption
I counted 8.5 liters along the mountain serpentine, 7.3 liters along the highway without overtaking.
With the permission of the manufacturer, AI-92 was refueled, which nice, considering how much gasoline costs now.
Summary
We were satisfied with the trip. For the engine and suspension, we rate «excellent»! A larger trunk and a more comfortable driver's seat would have been perfect.
Thanks to the Korchagin family from Moscow for the review!
