Compact crossover Belgee X50 went on sale

The production of the Chinese Geely Coolray SUV was launched at the facilities of the BelGee plant in Zhodino (Belarus) in the fall of 2020. Recall that in the homeland of the brand, in China, this model, which was based on the BMA (B-segment Modular Architecture) platform, has been sold since 2018 under the name Binyue. Now the crossover has been «Belarusianized»: it is produced at the same enterprise, but under the name Belgee X50 and with the corresponding logos.

Belarusian media reported on the first shipments of the Belgee X50 SUV to dealers a few days ago, while the crossover officially appeared on the manufacturer's website just now. By the way, the company's website itself has been updated.

The price of the “X-fiftieth” in the starting version of Comfort is 62,815 Belarusian rubles (equivalent to about 2.47 million Russian rubles at the current exchange rate). For the average Luxury option, they ask for at least 65,875 Belarusian rubles (about 2.6 million rubles). And the purchase of the top version of Flagship will cost no less than 73,950 Belarusian rubles (about 2.9 million rubles). For comparison, in Russia, the price of Geely Coolray, according to the current price list, ranges from 2,329,990 to 2,739,990 rubles.

Judging by the testimonies of those who have already met the “novelty” personally, the Belgee X50 almost completely repeats the donor — Geely Coolray — with the exception of the emblems and the battery: according to abw.by, the place of the battery of the Chinese brand Leoch was taken by the version of the production of the Russian company » Akom. It is not yet known whether BelGee plans to further deepen the localization of this model.

Under the hood of the Belgee X50/Geely Coolray is a petrol 1.5-liter turbo with 150 hp, which is paired with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two «wet» clutches. The drive for such a crossover can only be front.

So far, there have been no official reports on whether such SUVs will be delivered to the Russian Federation. It should be noted that Coolray remains one of the most popular models on the Russian market today. For example, according to the results of last month, this crossover was on the fifth line in the top ten best-selling cars; and in April, Coolray was in second place and became the best-selling foreign car in the country.

Today, during a visit to Minsk National Airport, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that his own Belarusian cars will be produced in partnership with two Chinese brands (we are talking about licensed production). One of the heavenly partners is obviously Geely, but the head of state did not specify who is the second.

Note that Belgee did not take the name for its crossover from the ceiling. The fact is that the Proton X50 crossover is now offered in Malaysia — this model is a slightly redesigned Coolray (in particular, it has a different grille). At the same time, the Proton brand itself is Malaysian, and its shares are owned by the Chinese holding company Geely.
