In the form of a concept, the Chinese all-terrain vehicle Tank 400 (the Tank brand is owned by the Great Wall concern) debuted back in 2021, the serial car was shown last spring at the Shanghai Motor Show. And now the brand has moved on to the next stage of model promotion: the SUV was once again demonstrated to the «celestial» specialized media, only with the announced characteristics; in addition, new corporate images have been published.

Outwardly, the Tank 400 almost completely repeated its forerunner. Exterior design features — deliberately rude features, headlights with «eyebrows» of daytime running lights and vertical lights (of course, diode optics), impressive bumpers and a hinged rear door with a spare tire.
The length of the novelty is 4985 mm (including the spare wheel), the width is 1960 mm, the height is 1900 mm, the wheelbase is 2850 mm. For comparison, the dimensions of the Tank 500 SUV presented in the Russian Federation are: 4886/1934/1905 mm (the Russian version does not have an external spare wheel), the distance between the axles is the same 2850 mm. Like the rest of the Tanks, the «400» has a frame structure with a solid rear axle.

Inside — a virtual tidy (the pre-production SUV had “wells” in the tidy), a multimedia system with a large touchscreen and a massive central tunnel. The side air vents were made round. It is curious that, despite the dimensions, the Tank 400 is exclusively five-seater. Trunk volume is 566 liters, with the second row folded this figure will increase to 1803 liters.

This Tank 400 has a 2.0 petrol turbo engine, a nine-speed automatic with an integrated electric motor, and a 37.1 kWh battery. The total return is 408 hp. and 750 Nm. The Chinese write that from 0 to 100 km/h, the “four hundredth” allegedly accelerates in 6.8 seconds, and in purely electric mode it can travel about 105 km in the WLTC cycle. Meanwhile, Tank previously certified a simpler “400” with a 252-horsepower 2.0 turbo engine (it is possible that this option will be supplemented with a 48-volt makeweight).
Tank 400 sales will start in China before the end of this year. Local media believe that the model will be cheaper than the “500th” (the hybrid Tank 500 Hi4-T costs from $46,000 there, the same is asked for a “traditional” SUV). Most likely, later the «400th» will reach Russia.
