Donald Trump could be charged with a number of crimes in connection with his alleged attempts to overturn the results of Georgia's 2020 elections, according to a document released briefly online on Monday.
The document, which Reuters reported appeared on the Fulton County court website, says prosecutors have charged Trump with conspiracy to forge documents, racketeering and making false statements.
The document was soon deleted. The state district attorney's office later said that Trump's accusation was «incorrect.» The reason for the publication and removal is unclear.
Reuters reported that the document contains several accusations that were expected in connection with Trump's attempts to find more votes in Georgia to allow him to win the state after losing the presidential race to Joe Biden in 2020.
Fulton District Court Clerk Che Alexander later released a statement that only seemed to raise more questions, calling the released document «fictitious» but without explaining how it got to the court's website.
The clerk's office stated that documents without official case numbers «are not considered official documents and should not be treated as such.» But the document that surfaced online did indeed contain the case number.
On Monday, prosecutors began presenting the case to a grand jury that will decide what charges to bring against the former president.
Previously, charges were expected to be filed Tuesday or Wednesday after witnesses testify. jury, who will then vote.
Fourth criminal lawsuit
If Mr. Trump is indicted in Georgia, this would be the fourth criminal lawsuit he has faced in the US after being accused of mishandling classified documents, falsified business records and attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election in connection with the riots at the Capitol on January 6. 2021.
He appeared on Monday to warn a potential witness in the Georgia case not to testify to a grand jury.
“I read the reports that failed the former lieutenant governor of Georgia. , Jeff Duncan, will testify before the Fulton County Grand Jury,» Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.

“He shouldn't. The former president said in a post on Truth Social that Tanya Chutkan, a district judge in Washington D.C., was «extremely biased» and «obviously wants me behind bars,» adding that the case against him was «VERY biased and UNFAIR!»
Last week Ms. Chutkan threatened to speed up the trial against Mr. Trump. if he made remarks that «could tarnish a jury or intimidate potential witnesses.»
Mr. Trump faces four charges in a case that focuses on events immediately following the results of the 2020 presidential election, which he refused to accept.
