The new crossover will likely have both all-electric and hybrid versions. The German brand model is expected to debut in 2024.
Opel introduced its new compact crossover in 2017, it was originally called Crossland X. However, during the restyling that the model went through in 2020, the X was lost, so the current SUV is sold under the name Crossland. This model is based on the French PF1 platform, which is also based on the current Citroën C3 Aircross. The production of this Opel is established at the Spanish plant of the auto giant Stellantis.

Opel’s future plans became known last spring: then it was reported that the brand would switch to the development and production of only electric vehicles in Europe in 2028. Even at that moment, the company noted that the successor to the Crossland will be all electric, although it is unclear whether the «green» crossover will retain its current name or get a different one.
Now the second generation Opel Crossland is in development: at the end of last month, photo spies caught a disguised prototype of the future novelty during road tests. There is no official word yet on what this model will look like. The designer of the Spanish publication Motor.es created his own version of the potential appearance of the next Crossland based on recent spy shots.
Judging by the render, the crossover received a more “squared” silhouette, black roof rails and roof, as well as pillars of the same color (rear roof pillars are half painted in body color). The artist also painted the car with traditional exterior mirrors with black housings and chrome inserts, as well as recessed door handles. He also provided the new SUV with a body kit around the perimeter of the body, made of unpainted plastic.

On the hood of the next Opel Crossland, the designer decided to leave the stampings, like the current crossover (including the central “rib”). Below is a glossy black plug with a large luminous logo in the center. This element visually merges with the head optics, which have LED strokes of running lights in the upper part. Below in the center you can see a thin slot, and in the lower part of the front bumper there is a large air intake with a mesh pattern, on the sides of it there are round foglights.
The interior of the new Crossland is expected to be spacious (due to the large wheelbase) and designed for five riders. There is no information about the interior yet, it is expected that the future model will receive a modern infotainment system.

According to preliminary data, the new product will be based on the STLA Small platform (formerly this «trolley» was called CMP). Most likely, the second generation Opel Crossland will have both fully electric versions and variants with internal combustion engines as part of hybrid installations. It is assumed that the “green” SUV will have a maximum power reserve on a single charge of up to 450 km. The novelty will debut in 2024.
