The Chinese frame has grown and no longer looks like a Jeep Wrangler. The new generation model is currently presented only with a gasoline turbo engine.
The BAIC BJ40 all-terrain vehicle has just reached the Russian Federation, for our country it is assembled by the Kaliningrad Avtotor. But at home, the model has been in service since 2013, where it is sold under the Beijing brand, and soon the Chinese will be offered a second-generation SUV. In the pictures of the Ministry of Industry of the PRC, such a BJ40 was lit up back in June, but now the BAIC concern held the first show of the novelty for local specialized media (“live” pictures were shared by the Autohome edition), while distributing branded images.

But at the same time, in the second generation, the model got rid of the “motives” of the Jeep Wrangler: the new BJ40 has a more solid appearance and an all-metal body (the predecessor had a removable plastic top, external hinges and massive arches). By the way, if only a four-door version is now presented in the Russian Federation, then in China the previous all-terrain vehicle still has a short version, plus a pickup truck is available there. The new Beijing BJ40 will not have such a variety of modifications — at least not yet.

The exterior design features of the “second” SUV are headlights merged with the radiator grille (the grille has a “edging” of individual diode strips), frameless doors and taillights made in the form of letters F. The tailgate consists of two parts — a glass rising up and a swing side. The length of the new BAIC Beijing BJ40 is 4790 mm, width — 1940 mm, height — 1895 mm, wheelbase — 2760 mm. For comparison, the dimensions of the current all-terrain vehicle for Russia are: 4645/1925/1871 mm, the distance between the axles is 2745 mm.

An electronic clock is located between the central air vents. The equipment list also includes a panoramic sunroof, surround view cameras and adaptive cruise control.

The new BJ40 debuted with one engine is a 2.0 petrol turbo four with a capacity of 234 hp. (on the predecessor, a two-liter turbo engine produces 224 hp, in the Russian Federation — 218 hp), which is combined with a classic eight-speed automatic. The previous model at home also comes with a 2.3T petrol and a 2.0 turbodiesel, but it is not yet known whether the range will be expanded for the “second” SUV. The SUV has an all-wheel drive transmission with a rigid connection of the front axle and a reduction gear, in addition, locks are provided for the rear and front differentials. at the Chengdu Motor Show, prices will be announced there (our predecessor today costs from 4,059,000 rubles).
