The Russian automaker has unveiled plans for the future of the Lada lineup. The presentation was held as part of the IMAF-2023 forum, which is currently taking place in Moscow. One of the brand's models, the production of which is scheduled to begin next year, is an elongated version of Vesta, which received its own name — Lada Aura.

According to the company's plan, the production of Lada Aura can start in August-September 2024, This was reported by TASS with reference to the head of the department for interaction with federal authorities and industry organizations of AVTOVAZ Alexander Vinogradov. According to him, «the project will be successful only if there is a confirmed stable demand.»

As Kolesa.ru reported earlier, such an elongated version of Vesta is mainly addressed to budget organizations and officials of the regional level. Accordingly, the stable demand that AVTOVAZ expects must come from them. Recall that the pre-styling Vesta also had a project of a “stretched” modification (called Signature), however, it did not advance beyond a few prototypes.

Lada Aura has Vesta's restyled elongated body, as well as a leather-trimmed interior. It is curious that the rear sofa, in fact, remained standard, designed for three passengers, although the second row of the Signature consisted of two separate seats, separated by a massive pedestal organizer.
Lada Aura is equipped with a VAZ 122-horsepower 1.8-liter gasoline engine, its maximum torque is 170 Nm. It works in tandem with an automatic transmission (from which manufacturer is not yet reported; according to rumors, this is a Chinese company CVT).

Earlier it was reported that the price of such a car, intended for regional officials, may exceed 2 million rubles. For comparison, the starting price tag of the updated Lada Vesta sedan in a standard body is 1,239,900 rubles, for the top-end version you will have to pay at least 1,584,900 rubles. It is worth noting that Vestas are now offered with 90- and 106-horsepower engines, and the 122-horsepower engine has not yet returned to the range.
Back in 2024, AVTOVAZ is going to start production of electric station wagons and Lada e-Largus vans; in addition, in the second quarter, the relocation of the production of gasoline Largus from the Togliatti plant to the site in Izhevsk should be completed, so that their production will be resumed later in the year. Also, the start of production of cars of the budget family Lada Iskra, which should replace the Granta, is scheduled for 2024.

Recall that AVTOVAZ is already producing at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg the Lada X-Cross 5 crossover, which is a badge-engineering FAW Bestune T77. At the same time, a pre-reform model was adorned with a logo in the form of a boat (in the Celestial Empire, the SUV underwent an update at the end of last year). which will be based on the Vesta platform. In addition, the Russian manufacturer intends to resume production of CNG versions of Vesta and Largus.
