Rimac Nevera sets a new Nürburgring record in the mass-produced electric vehicle class

The Croatian electric supercar drove through the legendary Nordschleife in 7 minutes 5.298 seconds, 20 seconds faster than the previous record set at the start this summer with the Tesla Model S Plaid Track Package liftback.

The Rimac Nevera debuted in 2021, and since then it has set more than 20 different records, including the record for the fastest speed among mass-produced electric vehicles (412 km/h). h), but the Nürburgring's Nordschleife, of course, stands alone in the list of achievements. Before Rimac, no other electric supercar manufacturer has dared to bring their miracle car to the Nordschleife, because this circuit places very high demands on the chassis and requires stable power plant performance throughout the entire 20.832 km.

Electric supercars typically boast massive power numbers and near-instantaneous acceleration to 100, but on the race track they often struggle to compete with their hydrocarbon counterparts due to their relatively large masses and the specific nature of traction control. The four-engine power plant Rimac Nevera produces a maximum of 1914 hp, while the hybrid Mercedes-AMG One with a 1.6-liter V6 at the base has “only” 1036 hp, but the Mercedes-AMG One turned out to be much faster at the Nürburgring , showing last fall 6 min 35.183 s. A Croatian car with its 7 min 5,298 s to the “German” is like walking to the moon – such is the technical reality. /> 1/4 2/4 3/4 4/4

The fact that the Rimac Nevera surpassed the lap time of the Tesla Model S Plaid by almost 20 seconds is not surprising, because Tesla, even with the Track Package, remains just a family liftback, while the Nevera is designed according to all the canons of supercar building. Croatian rider Martin Kodrić needed only 20 training laps before setting the record, and training came in difficult weather conditions, and on the day of the record race – August 18 – it was very hot, which created an additional load on the thermal control system of the power plant. In colder weather, the lap time could have been better, but the record is still there.

The record car did not have any special technical modifications, but was painted in a special black and green livery, which will also be given to the Nevera Time Attack special series, consisting of 12 cars – all of them, of course, have already been sold. The green color in Nevera Time Attack is a nod to the E30-generation BMW M3-based electric mod developed by Mate Rimac at the beginning of the last decade. .jpg” /> 1/3 2/3 3/3

Meanwhile, the new Bugatti model, which is also being developed by Mate Rimac, will have a hybrid powertrain and has every chance of becoming the fastest production supercar at the Nürburgring.
