The global SUV got a one and a half liter aspirated, but the four-wheel drive never appeared.
The world premiere of the new compact cross-country Suzuki Fronx took place in January, it was held in India, where production was established: Maruti Suzuki, a subsidiary of the Japanese company, is responsible for the release of the model. In the production homeland, sales started in April, and now the Indian-assembled five-door is entering the global market. So, Fronx is already available in South Africa and the Middle East, and then it will appear in other African countries, as well as in Latin America. As it turned out, the export version has its own peculiarity. But first things first.
1/3 2/3Recall that Suzuki positions the model as a completely new coupe-like crossover, although in fact we have before us an “off-road” version of the Baleno hatchback, which underwent a full restyling last year. However, the company did not limit itself to hanging unpainted plastic “in a circle”: almost all body panels were replaced, plus Fronx acquired a two-story head optics and taillights made in the form of a single die. Inside, the SUV as a whole repeated the original Suzuki Baleno, the difference is only in the details.The length of the Suzuki Fronx is 3995 mm (+5 mm compared to the Baleno), the width is 1765 mm (+20 mm), the height is 1550 mm (+50 mm), the wheelbase is the same 2520 mm as the donor hatch. The ground clearance of the export crossover is 170 mm. Trunk volume is 304 liters, with the backs of the second row of seats folded down, this figure will be 605 liters. 3 2/3 3/3
The very feature of the “world” Fronx is the engine. If in India a four-cylinder aspirated gasoline 1.2 (90 hp, 113 Nm) and a turbocharged 1.0 (100 hp, 148 Nm) are put on the SUV, then crosses with an atmospheric four 1.5 are exported. The K15C engine is installed on the Middle East version, it has a starter-generator, it produces 103 hp. and 137 Nm and is combined with a five-speed manual or a classic six-speed automatic. But for South Africa, Suzuki Fronx is equipped with a K15B engine without any makeweight, its return is 105 hp. and 138 Nm, this engine is also supposed to have 5MKP, but instead of 6AKP there is a four-speed automatic. The drive is in any case exclusively front.

In terms of equipment, the global Suzuki Fronx generally repeated the Indian cross.
