In China, the official premiere of the large hybrid SUV Jishi 01 from the startup Rox Motor took place, its main feature was the appearance, strongly reminiscent of Land Rover Defender 130, while in terms of equipment, the Chinese SUV is much superior to the British one.
Let's say right away that we do not have complete and accurate information about the Rox Motor startup. According to the latest information, Rox Motor is not directly related to BAW, but BAW will allegedly produce the Jishi 01 off-road vehicle under contract for Rox Motor. Jishi translated from Latinized Chinese into English means Stone, that is, “stone”. Rox Motor was founded in 2021 by entrepreneur Chan Jing, aka Richard Chan. Before joining the auto business, Chang Jing founded in 2014 the now very successful company Beijing Stone Century Technology, aka Beijing Roborock Technology in the international market — this company produces robotic vacuum cleaners under the Roborock trademark, one of its investors is Xiaomi.

How Rox Motor managed to develop an SUV from scratch with a rather complex technical filling in just two years is not very clear. There is no information about cooperation with BAW on the startup’s website, but this is not the first time CarNewsChina has reported this cooperation, only if at the beginning of summer it claimed that Jishi/Stone had become a subsidiary of BAW, now we are talking only about contract assembly. In general, the story is muddy, but in any case, we are sure that Rox Motor has some experienced automaker as a partner, such projects are not done on the knee, and if they are done, then much longer.
Jishi 01 will compete for consumers in China's booming eco-friendly SUV segment with brutal design. The creators of the Jishi 01, whoever they are, were clearly inspired by the British SUV Land Rover Defender in its longest version 130. The overall length of the Jishi 01 is 5050 mm (with a spare tire on the tailgate — 5295 mm), the width is 1980 mm, the height is 1869 mm, wheelbase — 3010 mm. The body, like the modern Defender, is load-bearing. Suspension — spring, front double wishbones, rear multi-link. Ground clearance — 205 mm, approach angle — 22.2 degrees, departure angle — 25.1 degrees, ramp angle — 19.7 degrees, fording depth — 700 mm.
1/3 2/3 3/3The power plant of the Jishi 01 is a plug-in hybrid, sequential type: a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of 152 hp. it is not mechanically connected to the wheels and works only in the mode of a generator of electricity, which is stored in a battery with a capacity of 56.01 kWh. Jishi 01 is driven by two electric motors (one per axle), the front one produces 150 kW (204 hp) and 340 Nm, the rear one — 200 kW (272 hp) and 400 Nm. The maximum cumulative output of the power plant is 350 kW (476 hp) and 740 Nm. To 100 km/h, the hybrid SUV accelerates in 5.5 seconds, the maximum speed is limited to 190 km/h. jpg» /> 1/3 2/3 3/3
With a fully charged battery, the Jishi 01 can travel 235 km in electric mode (without switching on the engine) on the WLTP cycle, in hybrid mode with a fully charged 70-liter tank, 1115 km on the WLTP cycle. The curb weight of the SUV is 2660 kg, the gross weight is 3189 kg.
The interior of Jishi 01 is three-row, in the second row, in any case, two separate seats are installed, but the basic version has relatively simple seats, not much different from the front ones, and the advanced Exclusive version has extra-comfortable chair-beds. The third row of the basic version is triple, the Exclusive version is double.

The rather tall front panel has no physical buttons. The instrument panel is virtual, 12.3-inch, the central multimedia screen is 15.6-inch, another 15.6-inch monitor is mounted on the ceiling and is designed for second-row passengers. There are 40 different niches and pockets for small things in the cabin, 7 USB ports and two wireless trays for charging gadgets. The standard audio system has 14 loudspeakers. Jishi 01 is especially proud of its optional Level 4 autopilot, which uses a rich arsenal of artificial vision organs, including three lidars. But China hasn't even legalized level 3 autopilots yet.
Also, for Jishi 01 offers a variety of accessories for travel and outdoor recreation: a food unit built into the tailgate, a body-mounted awning tent, pillows and mattresses for sleeping, an expeditionary roof rack, etc.
Jishi 01 is already available for order in China: the basic 7-seat version starts at 349,900 yuan exchange rate), 6-seater version Exclusive — from 359,900 yuan (4.63 million rubles). For comparison, let's say that the original Land Rover Defender 130 costs in China from 1,198,000 yuan (15.41 million rubles). However, it is clear that the Jishi 01 is not competing with the expensive Defender, but with other large hybrid SUVs of Chinese origin — for example, those produced by the very successful company Li Auto.
