Nadine Dorris responds to allegations of being a 'dosser'

Nadine Dorris was forced to deny being a «dossier» due to her failure to resign 10 weeks after her resignation was announced.

Sir Ed Davey, the leader of the Liberal Democrats, said Rishi Sunak should «have the guts» to sack Ms Dorries, MP for Middle Bedfordshire since 2005, accusing him of «deafening» silence on the issue.

The Liberal Democrat leader visited Ms. Dorris's constituency, where he said people were «tired of being so disappointed by an absent MP.»

The party issued a press release about his visit entitled «Ed Davey: It's time for Sunak to fire Dosser Dorris» after Sir Ed visited Flitwick, where signs were posted saying «Dosser Dorris is leaving».

He said, «Every day that Sunak takes no action only confirms it.» that this conservative government is completely out of touch with reality and takes people for granted.»

Ms. Dorris responded by saying that she and her team of social workers «work with voters on a daily basis.» In a statement to the News Agents podcast, she said: “I understand that political opponents, such as the Labor-run Flitwick City Council, are choosing the summer and news-hungry media during the summer holidays to get noticed. However, we just keep working.”

Sir Ed became the latest party leader to call on Mr Sunak to act after Sir Keir Starmer said on Tuesday the prime minister should «pull himself together», adding: «It's one of your MPs — do something with that, force a solution to the problem.» and keep doing it.”

In June, Ms Dorries, a close associate of Boris Johnson, said she would leave her seat in Parliament “immediately” after failing to receive a peerage on his list of honors when she retired . . However, she later said she was postponing her departure from the House of Commons as she sought answers.

Caroline Noakes, chairwoman of the Committee on Women and Equality, joined her fellow Conservatives in calling for Ms Dorris to be released, telling Times Radio: «She no need for a Tory whip if she has made it clear that she no longer wishes to be a Conservative MP but cannot take the final step towards resignation. I think she needs to get down to business and do it.”

Earlier this month, Mr. Sunak said that “at the moment people are not properly represented” when asked if Mr. Ms. Dorris of her constituents. However, Ms. Dorris has not yet been freed from the whip and remains in the Conservative Party.
