So far, the new German brand has debuted as a concept. The list of features of the camper includes two awnings, access to the refrigerator from the outside, as well as 180-degree swivel front seats.
The Volkswagen Multivan T7 passenger minibus was introduced in June 2021. In Europe, this commercial vehicle has since acquired several modifications, but so far no camper has appeared among them. The presentation of the pre-production Volkswagen California concept based on the Multivan T7 was held as part of the international exhibition of motorhomes, vans and caravanning Caravan, which is held annually in Dusseldorf in late August — early September. In the new California, like its predecessors, a sleeping box made of aluminum and fabric sidewalls is integrated into the roof. It lowers and rises with the help of a tablet that controls all the electronics in the car. By the way, this tablet also performs an entertainment function.
One of the most important features of the California Concept is a pair of sliding doors. The predecessors always had one such door, since the kitchen was located along the left side of the camper. The internal space of the «donor» — Volkswagen T7 Multivan — is larger, because of which it was possible to move the kitchen closer to the stern, which in turn made it possible to place another sliding door on the left side. At the same time, the kitchen is located in such a way that guests of car camping can use it both inside the car and outside. Vacationers also have access to a refrigerator, including outside.

The concept camper also has two awnings on the sides: the one on the right side is a triangular sun visor; and on the left is a full-fledged rectangular canopy, under which you can hide from the sun or drizzling rain while cooking or relaxing. The front seats can rotate 180 degrees, in which case the camper turns into a kind of living-dining room. The back seat can be turned into a bed.
