Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says the prospect of Saudi clubs continuing to try to sign Mohamed Salah after the European transfer window highlights why FIFA must take immediate action to unify rules around the world .
Klopp repeated. His club's stance that Liverpool are not ready to consider any move on Salah after the choreographed Saudi campaign over the past 24 hours has shown that an extraordinary offer is imminent.
The Saudis want to position themselves at the top of the rankings. A football pyramid scheme that uses its vast resources to destroy the traditional superpowers and the Salah deal will be their biggest coup.
Klopp says this kind of financial flexing is not new, but in this case, he fears clubs will be forced to deal with the fallout from transfer uncertainty after the Premier League's August 31 deadline, with the Saudis still able to sign players until September 20.
“I understand that this is not cool for us, the way it is. If we need a player from Wigan, I go there, they tell us the price, and we probably pay it,” Klopp said.
“The Bundesliga is like this: if Bayern comes, Dortmund or Mainz won’t be able to react. But there is a next level, and it is small. This is part of the business.
But what makes it impossible to fix this problem at this particular moment is that our transfer window is closing while theirs is still open. So how can we respond? From now on we play until the first of January and this is our lineup. This is what everyone is used to.
“We had this before with Russia. They had a different transfer window, but it wasn't exactly crazy money. This is something new, difficult for everyone, and we need to learn how to deal with it, but the authorities must make it clear that if you want to be part of the system, you are also running your own business. I'm pretty sure FIFA could do it if they wanted to.”
Liverpool have yet to receive any official bid for Salah. Because of time, they are determined to resist everything that happens.
“From our point of view, we have nothing to talk about,” Klopp said. “We don't have an offer. Mo Salah is a Liverpool player and obviously important to everything we do, he was and will be.
“There is nothing here and if there was, the answer would be negative. That's it.»
Klopp added: «My life philosophy is that I think about the problem when I have it. There is absolutely nothing at the moment. If something comes up, I can think about it, but as I said, if there is something [offer], then there will be a rejection.”
When asked if Salah is still fully committed to your business. at Liverpool, Klopp replied: «100 percent».
