The poll by Public First highlights the potential backlash brewing among the very constituency that Mr. Sunak intended to win over with his promise to end illegal Channel crossings.
>This confirms warnings from outside Red Wall Tores, such as James Daly, MP for Bury North, who voiced concern among his constituents that the problem of mass migration «is not solved by any political party.»
The survey was taken shortly before the number of people who arrived in the UK on small boats during Mr Sunak's premiership passed the 25,000 mark. In total, more than 100,000 people have arrived since 2018.

Last week, Mr Sunak said the small boat problem could not be solved “overnight” as he failed to promise that migrant crossings would be discontinued by the next general election despite repeated government promises to «stop the boats» as one of the Prime Minister's Five Priorities.
Mr Sunak is trying to blame third parties like the Labor Party and left-wing lawyers for blocking his efforts to stop crossings.

About one in ten (nine percent) Conservatives , who left the party, said the government was «trying hard» to address asylum and immigration issues. The centerpiece of the Brexit campaign was a promise to regain control of the UK's borders and reduce immigration.
James Frain, founding partner of Public First, which conducted the survey between Aug. 2 and 8, said: “The government is grappling with incredibly complex issues, trying to simultaneously contain small boats while housing and processing refugees and asylum seekers. Unfortunately, many voters think that these are simple problems that can be solved with political will.
“They simply cannot and will not understand why the government cannot simply return unsatisfactory applicants to France. This gap between reality and expectations will probably not be closed by the next election, and it is hard to see how this will not continue to drive down Tory ratings among new working-class voters.”
