This week, the Swedish company released the first teaser of the upcoming new product, which was an occasion for us to imagine what the car will look like.
Volvo's image as a manufacturer of family cars has long been entrenched, but so far the most versatile of all body styles, the minivan, has not appeared in the range. Instead, the expansion of the range in the last couple of decades has been mainly due to crossovers, the first of which appeared in 2001 with the XC90 index. Against the backdrop of the ever-increasing popularity of this type of body, the likelihood of a minivan appearing in the gamut became more and more elusive, but now it is already obvious that such a car will be made. What will it look like?

According to preliminary information, the new Volvo EM90 will be made on the basis of the Chinese electric minivan Zeekr 009 (this brand is owned by the Chinese holding company Geely Auto, which also owns Volvo). Most likely, their bodies will be largely similar, and the main differences will be concentrated in the design of the front and rear parts of the car. The Volvo minivan will get headlights and a bumper inspired by the company's new electric crossovers, the EX30 and EX90. It is not yet known whether they will significantly change the profile of the car, but we have depicted a variant with the shape of the side glazing in the style of other Volvo models. As for the rear, the teaser shows the shape of the lights, consisting of their vertical and horizontal LED elements built into their central part. />Volvo EM90 minivan render
Zeekr 009, which should form the basis for the new Volvo EM90, is built on the SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform with air suspension, which is also used by the Polestar 4 and Polestar 5 models, the new Smarts and the Volvo EX30 electric SUV. In China, the minivan is offered with 544 hp twin-engine all-wheel drive. (686 Nm) and two battery options — 116 or 140 kWh, providing a power reserve of 702 and 822 km, respectively (according to the Chinese CLTC cycle). In terms of the dimensions of the future novelty, you can also focus on the Chinese «brother», its length is 5209 mm, width — 2024 mm, height — 1848/1858 mm (depending on the version), distance between the axles — 3205 mm.
