Presented the most powerful Porsche Cayenne in history – 739-horsepower hybrid

From now on, the top plug-in hybrid version of the Porsche Cayenne is called Turbo E-Hybrid, it is the most powerful in the range, but not the fastest .

This spring, the Porsche Cayenne family of crossovers, which includes the coupe-like Cayenne Coupe, underwent a large-scale restyling, but then Porsche declassified only part of the range. Today, the most powerful hybrid version is presented: previously it was called the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid, and now the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, that is, without the letter S, it was considered redundant for model identification.

1/3 2/3 3/3The power plant of the top hybrid has not fundamentally changed, but each component has been revised to improve performance. The Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid uses only a single electric motor in an 8-speed automatic transmission, and the all-wheel drive system with front-wheel power take-off is the same as the pure hydrocarbon versions.

As a result of the modernization, the output of the 4.0-liter V8 bi-turbo petrol engine of the hybrid has increased from 404 kW (550 hp) and 770 Nm to 441 kW (599 hp) and 800 Nm, electric output from 100 kW (136 hp) and 400 Nm to 130 kW (176 hp) and 460 Nm >, the maximum combined output of the power plant – from 500 kW (680 hp) and 900 Nm to 544 kW (739 hp) and 950 Nm. The acceleration time to 100 km/h has been reduced from 3.8 to 3.7 s, the maximum speed is still limited to 295 km/h.

Traction battery capacity increased from 14.1 kWh to 25.9 kWh, thanks to which the electric range on the WLTP cycle has increased from 40-43 km to 70-73 km depending on the configuration. The curb weight of the coupe-shaped version has grown from 2535 kg to 2595 kg, the hybrid in the standard body has grown only 5 kg to 2570 kg. However, the GT Package is now available for the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid Coupe, reducing the weight to 2495 kg.

The GT Package option was developed specifically for those markets where, after restyling, for environmental reasons, the purely gasoline Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT has become unavailable – such markets include, for example, Europe and Japan. Recall that the Cayenne Turbo GT is offered only in a coupe-like body, its V8 engine is boosted to 660 hp. (before restyling it was 640 hp) – formally this is the fastest version in the range, even before restyling it set the Nurburgring record in the SUV class.

So, some technical features of the Cayenne Turbo GT migrated to the GT Package for the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid Coupe, namely a 10 mm lower and retuned suspension, wider front tires, a carbon fiber roof and standard carbon-ceramic brakes. In addition, the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid Coupe with the GT Package received the same carbon-fiber aerodynamic body kit as the Cayenne Turbo GT, along with a new rear bumper that moved the tailpipes to the center. With the GT Package option, the acceleration time to 100 km/h is reduced to 3.6 s and the top speed is increased to 305 km/h. For comparison, let's say that the Cayenne Turbo GT is gaining the first “hundred” in 3.3 seconds, its maximum speed is the same – 305 km/h.

A regular Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid, regardless of the body, has an adaptive air suspension and an active PTV Plus rear differential in the “base”, PDCC active anti-roll bars and a fully controlled chassis are offered for a fee. The interior is the same as in all other versions of the Cayenne after restyling, there are two options for front sports seats to choose from – harder and more comfortable.

The updated top-end hybrid is already available for order: the standard Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid costs in Germany from 176,324 euros, it is also in a coupe body from 179,775 euros, Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid Coupe GT Package – from 208,454 euros.
