Highlights are the new Cyan Metallic exterior tint, improved bolts for various chassis components, and slightly redesigned front air vents said to enhance the driving experience.
The new Cyan Metallic exterior tint is exclusively matched with black interior upholstery and blue stitching. Toyota will only build 50 examples painted in this color, which will join the existing white, grey, black and red variants. The color is likely identical to the Blue Flame that was introduced in the American GR Corolla last June, and the fact that it looks slightly different in photos is likely due to studio lighting.
The bolts used to fasten the front suspension element, steering and gearbox now have a ribbed flange, which improves their rigidity. Similarly, the bolts in the rear suspension element received a slightly wider head. According to Toyota engineers, the new bolts lead to improved steering response and stability.
Finally, the air ducts on the front bumper have been slightly redesigned to optimize air flow to the wheels. This is said to reduce drag while improving steering stability and agility, although we are not sure if the effect will be noticeable to the driver.
There are no changes to suspension setup or 1.6- liter three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that still develops 300 hp. power and 370 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 6-speed intelligent manual transmission and a GR-Four all-wheel drive system with front and rear limited-slip differentials.
Toyota GR Corolla will be available in the home market limited — only 550 units this year for ¥5,250,000 ($35,859). The owners will be chosen by lottery, with the company accepting applications until September 11 and sales will begin in the fall of 2023
