«Cool» sedan Geely Binrui has changed and cheaper in the version of the Champion Edition

The «champion» performance has become a new base for the model, it has a more relaxed look and a truncated list of equipment. The motor and gearbox are the same.

Geely announced a version called the Champion Edition for its Binrui Cool sedan at the end of July, and now the price has been announced in China and sales have started. Recall that the four-door has been in service since 2018, it is based on the BMA platform, on which the Geely Coolray crossover, well known to Russians, is also built (at home it is Binyue). Last year, the sedan underwent a radical restyling — it was then that it acquired the prefix Cool (“cool” in English).

The Binrui Champion Edition has its own exterior design: this four-door got a new grille with vertical wedges instead of a mesh and a less aggressive front bumper, and the exposed oval exhaust pipes are covered in chrome (for other versions they are black). In addition, for the «champion» sedan, even for a surcharge, a spoiler is not provided. At the same time, the dimensions of the car did not change: length — 4710 mm, width — 1795 mm, height — 1455 mm, wheelbase — 2670 mm. In all trim levels, Binrui «stands» on 17-inch wheels.

In the cabin, only the finishing materials were replaced (for example, “suede” disappeared), plus a new color scheme (gray-black) appeared. Champion Edition now opens the model line, so compared to other versions, the list of equipment has been truncated: there is a rear-view camera instead of a surround view system, only a pair of airbags (other versions still have side airbags) and manual adjustment of the driver's seat.

All versions of the model also have a virtual tidy (10.25 inches), a multimedia system with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, climate control and cruise control (it is adaptive for the top sedan). The most expensive Geely Binrui Cool still has heated front seats, curtain airbags, auto-braking and lane keeping systems. />Geely Binrui Cool Champion Edition

The technique is the same: the sedan is equipped with a 1.5 petrol turbo four with a capacity of 181 hp. (290 Nm), which is paired with a seven-speed robotic box with two clutches. The drive is exclusively front-wheel drive.

Geely Binrui Champion Edition costs 89,800 yuan, which is equivalent to about 1,172,000 rubles at the current exchange rate. The previous basic equipment (with a more sporty look) was more expensive — 94,800 yuan or 1,237,000 rubles (this version was removed from sales). Well, the top sedan will cost 109,800 yuan (about 1,433,000 rubles).

In Russia, Geely does not officially sell four-doors, however, some local dealers are ready to bring Binrui Cool under the parallel import scheme, so we may well have a Champion Edition version as well.
