England goalkeeper Dean Henderson has completed a £20m move to Crystal Palace and signed a five-year deal with Selhurst Park.
The 26-year-old's permanent transition was completed on Wednesday and it has already been announced. It is inevitable that it will end his 12 years at Manchester United, where he competed for the No. 1 shirt and spent six seasons on loan.
Henderson is expected to be Roy Hodgson's first choice when he is ready , while United are set to sign Fenerbahce's Altay Bayindir for £4.3m to replace summer arrival Andre Onana.
Telegraph Sport reported over the weekend that Henderson had been granted clearance to undergo a medical at Palace which checked for a hip injury sustained last season and helped Nottingham Forest secure Premier League survival.
His the medical examination was completed by Tuesday and the rest of the deal has already been worked out: Henderson signed a contract with Palace until 2028. The club-to-club fee is £20m including bonuses.
Forest, Henderson's last loan club, was considering a deal for him this summer but then moved to US international Matt Turner and remained in the market to sign a second goalkeeper until Friday's deadline.
Henderson has enjoyed a prolific season at City Ground. Earlier in his United career, he secured league promotion with Sheffield United and helped them to stay in the Premier League next year. He gained first-team experience on other loan spells at Stockport, Shrewsbury and Grimsby.
When he returned from Sheffield United, he challenged David de Gea for the #1 shirt and in 2020/21 became he played for a team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but then gave a bombshell interview saying he was «angry with rage» for not being picked first at United.
Expected to be he will now be Hodgson's number one team and Palace are looking for him. goalkeeper after Vicente Guaita refused to play pre-season friendlies due to his offer to leave the club. Henderson's opponent in the place of the goalkeeper will be England goalkeeper Sam Johnston.
