    Folarin Balogun completes transfer from Arsenal to Monaco

    Folarin Balogun has completed his move from Arsenal to Monaco in a deal that could end up worth £34.4m.

    The striker became the second most expensive sale in Arsenal's history, slightly behind the £35m they received from ” Liverpool for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in 2017.

    Arsenal were thought to be worth around £40m for the 22-year-old, but the club have negotiated a substantial sale clause as part of this transfer to Monaco. Arsenal will receive 17.5% of the fee if Balogun is sold by a Ligue 1 side.

    Balogun looks to pick up where he left off in France after an impressive loan spell at Reims last season. The US international, an Arsenal academy graduate, scored 21 goals in 37 appearances for Reims in 2022/23.

    Balogun signed a five-year contract with Monaco after the French team beat Inter Milan this summer in the race for his contract.

    Brentford's rivals West Ham for PSG striker Hugo Ekitike

    Brentford are actively pursuing Hugo Ekitike in a race for Paris Saint-Germain striker involving several European clubs.

    Ekitike, 21, attracted interest from a number of teams during the window after it was revealed he would be available, possibly on credit depending on the terms of the deal. West Ham have been linked with the French under-20 player as cover for Mihail Antonio.
