The Japanese company Flex, engaged in tuning Toyota cars, made a retro version of the Tacoma pickup especially for the American market and launched it for sale through subsidiary in San Diego, California.
Retro-style tuning is very popular in Japan, one of the main legislators of this genre is the Mitsuoka company, whose “aged” Toyota RAV4 is a huge success, but there are other players — for example, the Flex company with more than 55 years of experience. Flex is engaged in the restoration and tuning of Toyota cars — mainly Land Cruiser SUVs of various generations and Hiace minibuses. Recently, the Flex company entered the American market and launched the Renoca (stands for renovation car) line here, consisting of restomods based on old Cruisers, and the Renoca Windansea pickup truck was designed specifically for the USA, named after one of the beaches on the west coast near San Diego.
The Renoca Windansea is based on the third generation Toyota Tacoma. Let us remind you that Toyota created the Tacoma pickup truck specifically for the American market; it is currently a bestseller in its mid-size segment. The fourth generation Tacoma debuted this spring, but hundreds of thousands of third-generation pickups will be on the secondary market for many years to come—their owners are potential Flex customers.
