Steve Barclay told NHS staff to stop saying their pronouns

Health bosses have been told to ditch an NHS training manual which told staff to tell patients their pronouns.

Health Secretary Steve Barclay has ordered the materials to be withdrawn due to outrage over the «ideological dogma» permeating the service.

A training module released by Health Education England says doctors, nurses and others staff should initiate conversations with patients by using their own pronoun.

Staff were encouraged to inform patients about pronouns such as he/him, she/her or they/them to create a “safe a space for transgender, non-binary, intersex and gender non-conforming people.”

Mr Barclay intervened and ordered the withdrawal of training materials, angered by the «woke agenda» being promoted in the public sector.

On Tuesday he used his speech at the Tory party conference to announce that trans women would banned from women's wards under plans to restore 'common sense' to the NHS.

The changes, which will be subject to consultation, will consider giving patients the right to know whether their doctor is transgender and to insist that intimate care be provided by someone of the same biological sex.

Efforts to restore “simple common sense”

Earlier this year, health care leaders sparked a public outcry by saying patients have no right to know whether their doctors are transgender and could be guilty of discrimination if they ask to see a different doctor.

Mr Barclay also announced the return of sex-specific language to the NHS — after references to women were removed from advice on menopause and diseases such as cervical and ovarian cancer.

Minister The health service further said it had intervened «and banned NHS staff from announcing their pronouns to every new patient» as part of efforts to restore «simple common sense» to the service.

«As Conservatives, we know that such a woman,” he added to applause.

A source close to the health secretary said: «The training was brought to Steve's attention and he thought it was woke.» nonsense, they instructed officials to remove it and they raised the issue with NHS England.»

Helen Joyce, director of advocacy at campaign group Sex Matters, welcomed the shift.

p>She said: “Over the last decade the entire NHS has been taken over by the extreme trans activist lobby. They have created policies that claim that patients' self-proclaimed «gender identity» is more important than their actual biological sex — which is absurd when you're talking about healthcare. And they say that everyone, staff and patients alike, must state their pronouns, when in fact, almost everyone's gender is obvious at first glance. This ideology must be removed from every part of the NHS for the greater good.»

The importance of biological sex

The training manual was produced by Health Education England, the training and education organization which is now merging with NHS England.

Before the guidance was withdrawn, an NHS spokesman said the online module was optional for staff.< /p>

On Tuesday, Mr Barclay called for a “relentless focus on patient outcomes” and prioritization of frontline resources.

“This does not mean spending huge sums of taxpayer money on diversity consultants or hiring overblown internal diversity and inclusion teams,” he said.

“And that doesn’t mean ignoring patient voices—especially women’s voices—when it comes to the importance of biological sex in healthcare.

“If we don't understand this now, the long-term consequences could be very serious.” is serious about protecting women and future generations.»

Stonewall condemns plans

Home Secretary Suella Braverman backed the plans, telling reporters during a visit to Bolton: «There is no place for trans women on women's wards or indeed any safe space concerning biological women.

“And the Minister of Health is absolutely right to clarify and clarify that biological men should not be treated in the same wards and in the same safe spaces as biological women.

“This is about protecting women's dignity , and women's safety and privacy. And that is why I am incredibly supportive and welcoming of the Health Secretary's announcement today.»

But a Stonewall spokesman said: «This is a cynical attempt by the Secretary of State to 'look busy.' Instead of receiving a bribe from the implementation of the Women's Health Strategy, which, in addition to being unworkable, all it will achieve is to restrict access to healthcare for trans women, making it demeaning and dangerous.»

< p>Earlier this year, Labor Party leader Keir Starmer said the Labor Party would support single-sex wards based on biological sex.

This came after he attempted to clarify his position on transgender issues, saying that 99 .9 percent of women «are of course a refuge.» I don't have a penis,» who previously vowed to change the law in favor of self-identification.
