Tata Harrier and Safari crossovers on the Land Rover platform: new image and old diesel

Both SUVs have changed both outside and inside. In addition, the vehicles were given new equipment. But they are still not allowed a gasoline engine – only diesel.

The updated Indian crossovers Tata Harrier and Safari, announced a couple of days ago, were completely declassified today. Let us remind you that the first SUV is strictly a five-seater, it has been in service since 2018. The Safari entered production in 2021; it is a stretched version of the Harrier, and this SUV can have seven or six seats. The cars are based on the OMEGA Arc (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture) platform – this is how Tata designated a simplified version of the D8 trolley from Land Rover (the Indians own the British automaker). At home, Harrier and Safari did not achieve any outstanding results: at the end of last year, neither of them was able to break into the TOP 30 bestsellers in the Indian market. The restyling was designed to attract new customers, and it turned out to be quite large-scale.

The crossovers have retained the two-tier head optics, but the diode running lights located on top have become thinner, and they are now united by an additional luminous line. The main headlight units have also been replaced – they are more compact, plus they have a clearer shape. Note that the younger Tata Nexon SUV also received similar lighting technology.

Harrier and Safari also received new radiator grilles, bumpers and taillights (each of the crosses has its own elements). The design of the wheels has been changed, in addition, 19-inch wheels are now available for both SUVs, but 16-inch wheels are excluded from the range (there are also 17- and 18-inch ones). Finally, the palette of body colors has been expanded. By the way, as before, SUVs can have a “black” version of Dark.
