Dmitry Bragin won the title in the most prestigious class of the Russian Championship for the 6th time. The final stage of the 10th anniversary season of the G-Drive SMP RSKG Touring series will be remembered for its vibrant struggle with unpredictable results. At the Fortress Grozny circuit in the capital of the Chechen Republic, the names of the winners and prize-winners in the SMP TCR Russia premier class and the Super-production classification became known. In the Touring-Lite and S1600 classes, the titles were won yesterday, but the fate of the silver and bronze awards was decided only now.
SMP TCR RUSSIA
After yesterday's race, Ivan Chubarov equaled the number of points with Dmitry Bragin: by the decisive race, both scored 258 points. However, today both had to start from the last row of the field — and the champion would be the athlete who finished higher. At the same time, not losing much to Alexander Smolyar, who before the start of the final battle was only 8 points behind the leaders, and started from the third row.
At first it seemed that Ivan Chubarov, having won several positions, would guarantee himself the title: Dmitry Bragin lost a lot of time fighting with Kirill Ladygin, another driver of the LADA factory team. However, Bragin also had support: instead of trying to catch up with the leader Vladimir Sheshenin, the second Pavel Kalmanovich slowed down the pace and gathered behind him Alexander Smolyar, Rustam Fatkhutdinov and Chubarov and Bragin, who had caught up with them.
Three laps before At the finish line, Bragin rushed to the attack — and left Chubarov behind. Both finished outside the top three, but took the highest places in the tournament. Accordingly, Ivan Chubarov becomes vice-champion, and Dmitry Bragin wins the championship title for the sixth time — an incredible achievement!
Alexander Smolyar, who found himself hostage to the situation, was content with third place in the race – and bronze at the end of the season.
SUPER -PRODUCTION
After yesterday's withdrawal, tournament leader Mikhail Mityaev had something to be nervous about: he lost almost his entire reserve of points. The situation was simplified for him by the starting grid: his main competitor Roman Golikov started fifth, while Mikhail himself was third.
However, the leadership in the race was taken by Nikolai Vikhansky, for whom it was extremely important to leave behind Leonid Panfilov, his competitor in the dispute for bronze at the end of the year. Golikov was about to reach second place, but in the fight he damaged his car and was forced to go to the pits, saying goodbye to his claims to the title. And soon Vikhansky came under attack from his rivals and, with a broken suspension, flew into a gravel trap just one turn before the finish.
Thus, pilots with Ladas ended up on the podium. Maxim Turiev was the first to cross the finish line, but after the race he was penalized for contact with Vikhansky, and he fell back to second place. First and third in the race are Mikhail Mityaev and Leonid Panfilov. The three leaders of the season are Mikhail Mityaev, Roman Golikov and Leonid Panfilov.
TOURING-LITE
The winner of this race, Andrei Petukhov, was just a little short of being one of the top three winners of the season. Mikhail Simonov played into his hands, starting the race from last place as the reigning champion. Here Mikhail clashed with last year's champion Nikolai Karamyshev, and after the collision he finished last, but still retained third position in the championship.
Egor Sanin took second in the race and championship. His partner Stas Novikov did not participate in the distribution of the final places, but added a cup to his collection for third place in the final race of the season.
S1600
Only Timofey Buyanov felt comfortable in the S1600, who was in the lead from start to finish. Daniil Kharashun and Vladimir Lobachev finished behind him, but Kharashun received a fine and fell out of the ranks of the winners of this race, who were Lobachev and Rustam Fatkhutdinov.
Nevertheless, the silver in the tournament goes to Daniil Kharashun. Kirill Zinoviev receives bronze, and Vasily Korablev, due to problems in the last race, falls out of the top three. And Artem Antonov won the Russian Cup the day before.
Recordings of all the exciting races are available on the VK Video service.
