Previously, D-class station wagons were presented on the Russian market, but now only sedans remain at best. We decided to present a similar model based on one of the most interesting passenger novelties of this year.
The premiere of the flagship sedan Arrizo 8 took place last summer, and about a year later the car appeared in Russia. In terms of dimensions (4757 × 1832 × 1469 mm, wheelbase – 2770 mm) it can be classified as class D, the main players of which until recently on the Russian market were such models as Hyundai Sonata, Kia K5 and Toyota Camry. The last two of them (more precisely, in the case of Kia we are talking about the predecessor of the K5 model called Optima) in their history had a station wagon option, and many European competitors still offer it – for example, Opel Insignia, Peugeot 508, Skoda Superb and Volkswagen Passat. Now in our market, in principle, there are no such cars, so a Chinese station wagon could partially fill this niche.

The station wagon presented in the renderings is identical to the sedan right down to the B-pillar, and all changes are associated with the rear of the body. The shape of the side glazing is made in the style of a sedan, and luggage rails have appeared on the roof. The lights are identical to the base model, as is the bumper, because the rather low loading height of the sedan’s trunk is quite suitable for a station wagon. This option could be an excellent choice as a family car, in which a sedan will probably be used by many. In addition, many people predict a place in taxi fleets for the Arrizo 8 to replace the aforementioned Hyundai, Kia and Toyota; for these purposes, a large, convenient trunk will also come in handy.

Initially, the sedan was offered with a single engine – a 1.6 TGDI petrol turbo-four, which produces 186 hp in the Russian version. and 275 Nm (in China – 197 hp and 290 Nm). However, in the middle of this year, sales of a car with a more powerful 2.0TGDI, which produces 254 hp, began on the domestic market. and 390 Nm of torque. Both engines are equipped with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches, and the drive is exclusively front-wheel drive.

Today in Russia the Arrizo 8 sedan is offered with the above 1.6 engine and in three trim levels. The base model is Prestige, which is priced at 3,409,900 rubles. The most expensive option, Ultimate SE, will cost 150 thousand more.
