The young Chinese company IM Motors is controlled by the SAIC concern and produces premium electric cars; the mid-size coupe-shaped crossover LS6 has become the third and most affordable model in its scale.
SAIC created IM Motors in 2020 in partnership with IT giant Alibaba Group and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech technology park in Shanghai. The letters IM stand for Intelligence in Motion, which can be translated into Russian as “intelligence in motion,” but there is also a purely Chinese Latinized version of the name — Zhiji Motors. IM's debut model last year was the L7 business sedan, earlier this year the large LS7 crossover entered the market, and now the range has been expanded to include a smaller crossover — the LS6.

The platform for all three models is common, it uses components from famous Western brands, the front suspension is on double wishbones, the rear is multi-link, and the LS6 uses conventional springs as elastic elements. The body is made of aluminum alloy, the artificial vision organs necessary for the operation of the electronic driver and autopilot are integrated into it (including a lidar above the windshield), the declared aerodynamic drag coefficient cx is 0.237.
Overall length of IM LS6 — 4904 mm, width — 1988 mm, height — 1669 mm, wheelbase — 2950 mm. The volume of the main trunk is 665 liters, with the rear seat backs folded down it is 1640 liters, and in front there is an additional trunk with a volume of 32 liters. Standard wheels are 20 or 21 inches. The standard equipment is very rich, it includes, for example, three-zone climate control, a high-quality 7.1.4 audio system with twenty speakers, luxury seats with ventilation and heating, 256-color atmospheric lighting.

The truncated steering wheel shown in the photographs instead of a traditional steering wheel is an option, but a two-screen display is included as standard equipment, and the screens are height-adjustable independently of each other. The driver's screen is 26.3-inch, the passenger's is 15.5-inch, and on the center console there is another 10.5-inch screen that controls the microclimate and other settings.
Depending on the configuration, the IM LS6 has a 500-volt or 900-volt electrical architecture; in the second case, the battery charging time is significantly reduced (+500 km of range in 15 minutes), but a high-power terminal is needed. The two younger versions are 500-volt, the basic one has a single electric motor on the rear axle with a maximum output of 231 kW (314 hp) and 450 Nm and a battery with a capacity of 71 kWh, a full charge of which is enough for 560 km of range on the CLTC cycle . In the second 500-volt version, the electric motor power is increased to 250 kW (340 hp) with unchanged torque, the battery capacity is 90 kWh, the range on one charge is 680 km.

900-volt versions are equipped with a battery with a capacity of 100 kWh, the maximum output of the electric motor in the rear-wheel drive version is 379 kW (515 hp) and 500 Nm, the range on one charge is 760 km. The top-end dual-engine all-wheel drive version has the same rear electric motor, the front one produces 200 kW (272 hp) and 300 Nm, the maximum total output is 579 kW (787 hp) and 800 Nm. The twin-engine IM LS6 accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.48 s, top speed is 252 km/h, range on a single charge is 702 km.
Prices for IM LS6 do not include discounts and promotions available already at the start of sales are in the range from 229,900 to 291,900 yuan (from 3.15 million to 4.0 million rubles translated at the current exchange rate), but some equipment is offered only for an additional payment — for example, 21-inch, powerful Brembo brakes and the aforementioned steering wheel instead of a steering wheel.
