Premium sports crossover: dynamic Evolute i-Jet presented in Russia

This all-electric SUV takes just 3.7 seconds to accelerate from zero to 60mph.

The Russian brand Evolute, under which it is planned to produce only electric cars, was created by Motorinvest in 2022. The production of “green” models is established at an enterprise located in the Lipetsk region. Today, the line consists of the i-Pro sedan, i-Joy and i-Sky crossovers, and the i-Van minivan was officially announced last month. Now it’s the turn of another new product for the Russian market — we are talking about the premium crossover Evolute i-Jet.

For all Evolute models, the donors are cars that are part of the very extensive portfolio of the “celestial” concern Dongfeng. The new i-Jet crossover, which the company officially announced today, is no exception. It is the result of badge engineering of the Seres SF5 model (the Seres brand is owned by Sokon, which has a joint venture with Dongfeng).

The Evolute i-Jet is a premium sports crossover that the company calls its most dynamic model. The all-wheel drive “green” SUV is equipped with a dual-engine power plant, the total output of which is 646 hp and the maximum torque is 940 Nm.

At the start of sales, the model will be offered with two options for traction batteries to choose from — either a lithium iron phosphate battery with a capacity of 80 kWh, or a semi-solid-state battery with a capacity of 90 kWh. In the first case, the power reserve of the Evolute i-Jet is 430 km (when calculated using the WLTP cycle), and this version requires 4.0 seconds to accelerate from zero to “hundreds”. The second option assumes a maximum range of up to 530 km, and from 0 to 100 km/h this i-Jet accelerates in 3.7 seconds.

This crossover has a streamlined body shape, simple-looking head optics with “flowing” LED running lights, a large air intake integrated into the lower part of the front bumper, an unusual line of side glazing, lights connected to each other by a wide plate across the entire width of the tailgate, as well as 20-inch wheels, a spoiler visually similar to an extension of the roof, and retractable door handles.

The interior, designed for five passengers, is trimmed with eco-leather, the front seats have massage, ventilation, heating and memory functions . The role of a virtual instrument panel is performed by a 12.3-inch display. The touchscreen of the infotainment system has a diagonal of 15.6 inches. The Evolute i-Jet is also equipped with ambient lighting (you can choose from 64 colors), as well as a projection HUD display.

The manufacturer noted that those interested can now submit a pre-order request on the brand's official website. At the same time, details about the configurations of the electric crossover, as well as its recommended retail price, will become known closer to the start of sales; the company will reveal the date later.
